How you will make an impact:

Reporting to the Director Ethics, the Spiritual Health Therapy& Education Coordinator will coordinate the clinical activities of Spiritual Health Therapy and Education program across all of our sites in William Osler Health System. The Spiritual Care Coordinator is responsible for providing psycho-social and spiritual support to patients, their families, and members of the interprofessional team (staff and volunteers). The position works primarily from Brampton Civic Hospital with additional regular support to Etobicoke General Hospital, Peel Memorial Hospital and RCC. The Spiritual Care Coordinator is a core member of the inter-professional team and contributes to an ethical, safe, and inclusive environment through knowledge and practice of the organization’s policies and procedures.  

Core Competencies

  • Provide Spiritual Health Therapy services, including assessments, best practices, psycho-social support, counselling, group facilatation, rounding, and education,  M-F 8am – 4pm)
  • Maintains Spiritual care logs, spiritual care assessment priority data reporting and collation.
  • Provide  in-services, research, special projects, accreditation, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) Accreditation, ritual needs of community, staff and physicians,  
  • Serve on Hospital Committees, i.e. Palliative Care, Bereavement, Ethics, Diversity
  • Mentor & precep CPE Interns and Residents including CPE orientation
  • Helps CPE Supervisor maintain and develop our integrated CPE education.
  • Helps to set goals, priorities and objectives that are aligned with the Corporate Priorities and in alignment with Organization’s Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Identifies performance indicators and quality improvement opportunities.

You have:

  • Master’s degree in Theology/Divinity, or equivalent
  • CASC/ACPE/APC (Canadian Association for Spiritual Care/Association for Clinical Pastoral Education/Association of Professional Chaplains) certification as Spiritual Care Provider or eligible
  • College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) registration as Psychotherapist or eligible
  • At least 1 advanced unit of completed Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Experience working with diverse faith communities with knowledge of various faith practices
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in an institutional setting
  • Experience in and knowledge of quality improvement activities and research in the field
  • Leadership, Inclusion & Diversity skills
