Reports to: Manager Spiritual Care
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Status: Permanent Full-Time

POSITION:

Functioning as a member of the interprofessional health care team, the primary responsibilities of the Spiritual Care
Clinician Educator include: the provision of spiritual care to patients, families/friends and staff at UHN, conducting
spiritual assessments and planning of care, treatment and interventions. The Spiritual Care Clinician
Educator demonstrates competency in providing spiritual care to diverse religious, educational and cultural
backgrounds while exhibiting leadership. In addition, the Spiritual Care Clinician Educator is responsible for performing
cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.
The Spiritual Care Clinician Educator, in collaboration with the other clinical educators is responsible for the
planning, organization and implementation of Spiritual Care Education programs, at the basic, advanced and
provisional supervision levels, under the auspices of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) at the University
Health Network.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At minimum, completion of a Master’s Degree in Spiritual Care
  • At Minimum, 6 years practical and related experience
  • Credentialing as Certified Supervisor Educator with the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC)
  • In the process of registering with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
  • Effective organization, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable, legislative, UHN and /or departmental policies
  • Ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and
    characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Excellent counseling/clinical skills and compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated competence in enabling effective team collaboration between colleagues, staff, volunteers and
    community resources
  • Demonstrated competency in spiritual care to the sick and to persons of diverse religious, educational and
    cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of research procedures, methods, techniques, statistical principles, measurement theories and data
    collection instruments
  • Ability to relate theology/spirituality and behavioural sciences to spiritual care work
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical
    ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
