Maplewood House and MSA Manor are long term care homes in Abbotsford, operated by Maplewood Care Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with chronic illness. Our around-the-clock long term care serves 112 residents.
We are seeking a non-denominational Spiritual Care Coordinator to provide contractual services supporting both Maplewood House and MSA Manor for 12 hours per week.
Working within the approach to care, which embraces bother Person and Family-Centered Care, to provide emotional and spiritual care to long term care residents and their families from a variety of faith and non-faith backgrounds. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Spiritual Care Coordinator supports residents by enabling meaningful spiritual health experiences that strengthen their dignity, value, and choice. Knowledge of various spiritual/religious/cultural backgrounds and belief systems is important, as is the ability to network with diverse faith traditions on behalf of residents and families. Openness to non-traditional beliefs related to end of life care is part of the role. Experience with computer software, including electronic charting, is required.
We envision a Spiritual Care Coordinator who has a relevant degree, CPE credits and who is a member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS). Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years work in a faith community, and evidence of continuing education may be considered.
