St. Joseph’s Health Centre oversees the operations of St. Joseph’s Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (a 64-bed continuing care hospital) in Sudbury, and Villa St. Gabriel Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) in Chelmsford.

Chaplain Permanent – Full Time/Part Time

Hourly Rate: $31.93 – $37.57

We are currently seeking a qualified Chaplain to provide Spiritual and Religious Care services to our residents and patients. The Chaplain serves as a ‘Minister of Presence’ through caring, supportive listening and prayer while possessing knowledge of human development including spiritual growth, behaviour and family dynamics. He/she plans liturgies and worship services for residents and patients, coordinates observances of religious feasts and supports multi-faith programming and education. Additional functions include pastoral care at end of life and support to families and staff dealing with grief and loss.

The ideal candidate will be a self-directed, energetic and creative individual who is able to respond to the spiritual needs of patients, families and staff. She/he will be committed to our values of Dignity, Excellence, Service and Integrity and will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary care team serving culturally diverse populations in long term care and hospital environments. A bilingual candidate is preferred.


• Bachelor Degree in Theology or related field
• Registration with or in progress with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CPRO)
• A minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent
• An understanding of and willingness to minister in a multi-faith, multicultural context
• Endorsement by a faith community
• Fluency in French is considered an asset
• Experience in a healthcare setting is considered an asset
