Telehealth Chaplaincy opportunities — working from home
This is an opportunity for certified Spiritual Care Practitioners or Psycho-Spiritual Therapists in CASC/ACSS (board certified chaplains in the USA) who are confident and experienced counselors to reach clients beyond healthcare, by working with The Company Chaplain; www.thecompanychaplain.com.
We are a new enterprise, seeking to leverage technology to provide chaplain services to company employees. The Company Chaplain provides opportunities for chaplains to provide counseling support to folks who normally would not have access to a chaplain. All our services are offered virtually, by Zoom or phone, so you would work from a professional setting within your own home.
Chaplains at The Company Chaplain have a lot of independence. For example, they choose the hours that they are available, and the number of hours per week—and can schedule them at any time of day, any day of the week. That means they have some responsibility too. For example, they will:
- post the schedule of their hours in advance, and initiate sessions promptly, providing excellent chaplain support to each client.
- manage their own internet connection and computer equipment and provide a professional setting for sessions within their home.
- be comfortable with initiating and managing Zoom and phone sessions, and ensure sessions are completely confidential.
- maintain excellent communication with The Company Chaplain, observe our protocols and keep good business records of sessions
While our clients are not in the healthcare system, our Chaplains are totally comfortable keeping strictly within the usual bounds of spiritual and emotional care—not providing psychotherapy or treating mental illness; and supporting clients in their belief system, not proselytizing.
By providing chaplain services to company employees, The Company Chaplain is providing an important resource at a key time. The Company Chaplain can be compared to an Employee Assistance Program, or EAP, but it offers something EAPs don’t.
Usually, EAPs offer counseling by a Psychologist or other licensed psychotherapist. However, not all problems are psychological issues, and many employees avoid EAPs due to fear of a mental health diagnosis. There are many other reasons why humans may be struggling in life. They or their loved ones may have suffered from isolation, stress, financial worries, or poor health during lockdowns. They may be grieving a tragic loss, feeling worried or overwhelmed. In short, the issues that employees suffer are often the very same ones that chaplains address on a daily basis.
There are many advantages to working with The Company Chaplain, chiefly using your professional skills to build an independent income while working from home. You’ll be a pioneer—delivering chaplain services to a new demographic group in an innovative way. However, it’s important to understand that this is not an employer-employee relationship. There are no employee benefits as such. The Company Chaplain pays Chaplains for sessions that are booked and paid for by clients, not for the hours posted as available by the chaplain.
Clients book sessions online through The Company Chaplain website. They can book a session with you only at a time when you have made yourself available, however it’s quite possible that one or more of your time slots will not be booked, especially initially.
