Post CPE Residency Position With Stipend
Vancouver General Hospital has an opening for a half time post-CPE resident. This position provides a paid stipend based upon a $20 per hr rate for 20 hrs per week. Residents must also supply one week per month of after hours on call response. Hours are between 2pm and 8pm during assigned week days and at least 4 hours on either Sat or Sun. This is a directed studies program registered with the Vancouver School of Theology and may be considered part of certain VST Master Degree programs (including advanced masters) and diplomas. It is designed for students who have completed their CPE and wish to gain experience studying and working within an area of specialization.
The current opening may be built around a specialization in acute and long term spiritual care of the elderly or the spiritual care of families. Other specializations may be considered if they fit with the expertise of the adjunct professor/profession leader teaching the course of studies. The Spiritual Care of Psychiatric Patients residency is already filled and is therefore not available to applicants at this time.
The residency is one year in length and can be renewed with the agreement of both parties for a second year. The program is synchronized with the fall/winter and spring/summer terms of the Vancouver School of Theology. At the end of one year, students have provided the 1000 documented hours of spiritual care practice required to apply for certification with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care.
Start date is September 01, 2018. Interested persons who have completed their second advanced unit or who have equivalency may contact Doug Longstaffe, Profession Leader, Spiritual Care and Multi-Faith Services, Vancouver General Hospital at firstname.lastname@example.org.
