Atonement, Not Yet

Naked in body, mind and soul

we gathered,

faithful,

beautiful,

hopeful for new life,

new beginnings,

with blessings and offerings,

yet we received neither,

rather more hate,

more judgment,

more injustice,

more and more of the same

really ugly,

violent,

malicious

inflictions on our personhood,

our tradition,

our beliefs.

Atonement,

not yet.
